Hey gang,
So that's me, a few weeks ago, after having crossed the finish line at A.I.D.S. Walk NYC. All of my friends bailed (or were otherwise indisposed), so I ended up hoofing the 6.3 Miles (10K) for charity alone this year--but hey, I still had a blast. Boy, were my feet sore afterwards! I think it's time to invest in some new sneakers.
I haven't given up on the half-marathon goal. Not quite there yet physically, but I'm working on my running (endurance, speed--lol--hence the need for new sneakers). ;)
Speed wise, I can cut a mile in a little under 9 minutes. Distance wise, I can jog for about 20 minutes straight before I need to slow to a walk.
20 minutes is not exactly where I wanted to be by now, but I'm still on track. I had to cut my running schedule down to 1-2 days a week, and replace the treadmill with the elliptical trainer, because of the havoc running was playing on my hips, knees and feet! Once I can manage to run for 30 minutes without a break I think I'll be on my way to some serious training.
