For those of you who don't know, I host a Chic Lit bookclub here in NYC. We haven't been around very long and we're very new, but we're growing. We convene locally around Manhattan once a month for drinks and discussion. New members are always welcome, so don't be shy--come and join us. If you enjoy contemporary women's literature and would be interested in being added to our mailing list, email me.
Two days down on the fitness front. Things are working out pretty well with the diet, though I did get derailed by a craving for a double cheeseburger and a small fry yesterday. ;) Monitoring calories is tough work. I can consume 1500 calories in a snap if I'm not careful! :)
I'm keeping my spirits up and am considering joining the spinning class. I have high ambitions, but I'm trying to ease myself into the workouts so I don't psyche myself out early on. Afterall, I have to keep it up. I'll take it easy, but I figure if I'm brave enough for the elliptical trainer I'm ready for almost anything! I'm just so wanting to jump right into the action. Even if it means biting off a little more than I can chew. lol I actually really want to try kickboxing, but haven't found any on the class schedule at my gym. Anyone know of any great kickboxing classes in the NYC area offered through Ballys Sports Clubs?
I love this pic and I love motorcycles, I think there are few things sexier. I've been attracted to bikes and those who ride them ever since I was a little girl, but always found them a little too intimidating to attempt to ride on my own. I guess I was a bit of a scaredy-cat, but I see that changing for me. I'm considering things at 28 that I would have barely fathomed doing at 18. So, who knows? Maybe one day I'll add biker babe to my title.
Well it's official, I'm on a diet! I guess I should really refer to it as a lifestyle change, but it still feels like a diet. Goodbye Pizza, adios Beef and Broccolli, hello whole grains fruits and vegetables--see, they even sound boring! :) It's fun though--eating foods that won't clog your arteries like a banana in a rusty tail pipe. It's empowering, walking along the supermarket perimeter with a shopping cart that looks like a Green Acres advertisement. You're instantly the envy of all your fellow shoppers--particularly the one's who couldn't leave that box of assorted donoughts behind.
"So disciplined," they say. "So brave," they say. If only they knew what my stomach was saying..."grrrg... Did I pass by those krispy kremes in aisle 6 or aisle 7?" Superman: The Movie (1978) -- My favorite movie of all time, the film that sparked my interest in filmmaking. Oh my incurable sweet tooth! :) Louisianna Sweet Potato Pie. Still the one dessert I can make better than anyone I know. |
